Join us for our next series Electing Conversation beginning Feb. 8!
The election season is upon us, and Theoloqui will be blogging about what we are thinking about as we prepare to vote. Much of the political rhetoric is polarizing, and as we discuss what we are doing to inform ourselves, we also hope to model robust conversation that bridges varying perspectives. Electing Conversation is about such dialogue, and as always, we welcome respectful discussion and debate with our readers!
Polls show that caucus voters care about many issues this voting season. On both sides of the aisle voters care about the economy, terrorism, foreign policy, social issues (e.g, abortion, marriage equality), immigration & refugees, and health care. Other topics we will consider include the role of government, religious rhetoric, and family values. We may even take up a critique of candidates!
In addition to covering some of these topics, we will frame the conversations around our identity in Christ. Our faith not only informs what we think, but it also shapes how we think and approach politics.
